Zoukak Theatre Company and Cultural Association, formed in 2006, is a platform for research in theory and practice with the aim to create interrelated languages of performance between us, company members or with our collaborators.
Our methodology of creation is based on a freedom of individual propositions where our input is hybrid and interchangeable. Work ranges from solo performance, group projects, workshops, independent investigations, to participatory performances with psychosocial components, with an emphasis on audience interaction, positing the viewer as an active agent in the developmental process.
The association facilitates workshops from international artists, supporting and expanding a network of diverse practitioners. This sustains our mission of developing a dialogue of exchange and sharing of experiences, in order to create a pulsating web of artistic creation in the country, and to provide local students and practitioners with a space to learn and to share skills and creativity. This space was concretized with Zoukak's studio, serving in part as a free access rehearsal place for local practitioners
In addition to artistic work, Zoukak Company is interested in applying theater on various levels: social, psychological, and educational. The Company has developed a special approach to drama therapy and applies techniques of theater in a context of learning, giving workshops and training sessions in different Lebanese regions and in various contexts, in collaboration with local and international organizations.
